Nobody wrote down what this computer is. This is the first row of the asset register you do not have.

The Hardware & Firmware Check reads the physical layer of a Windows computer: make, model, serial number and asset tag, how old the firmware is, whether Secure Boot and the TPM security chip are on, whether the drive is encrypted and whether its recovery key is stored somewhere you could actually find, how healthy the disk is, whether the hardware can still run a supported version of Windows — and the record Windows keeps of every USB storage device ever plugged in. Then it asks seven questions about how equipment is tracked, returned and disposed of.

What it checks

  • Make, model, serial number, asset tag and firmware age of this machine
  • Secure Boot, the TPM security chip, Kernel DMA Protection and disk encryption
  • Disk health, recovery-key backup, and whether this hardware can run a supported Windows
  • The record Windows keeps of every USB storage device attached to it
  • Seven questions about equipment disposal, asset records, returned kit and recovery keys
  • Everything is measured locally; the check works fully offline

What you get

  • A written PDF report emailed back to you, typically within one business day.
  • Every finding rated Critical / High / Medium / Low, with measured results and your own answers kept separate.
  • A hardware identity block you can paste straight into an asset register or an insurance application.
  • Remediation mapped to NIST CSF 2.0 asset management, with NIST SP 800-88 cited wherever disposal comes up.
  • A "what was checked" appendix that states the limits of the scan honestly.
  • Reporting built to CompTIA Security+ and PenTest+ practice standards.

Who it's for

Small businesses that have never had an asset register, owners answering a cyber-insurance questionnaire that asks about encryption and disposal, and anyone about to retire, sell or hand down a computer.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • Run as administrator — without it, more than half of the check cannot run, and the report says so rather than guessing
  • No internet connection needed for the checks; only to send the report
  • About 2 minutes, plus the seven questions

What this is not

QuickScan is detection and advisory only. It reads hardware, firmware and Windows records; it never changes a firmware, encryption or device setting, never reads the contents of any drive or USB device, and leaves nothing running behind it. It is not a certification, an audit or an attestation.
