Removable Media & Cloud Sync Check

$29.00

Where your data could walk out: USB, remote tools, cloud.

What it is

Reads this computer's removable-storage rules, how many USB drives have been plugged in, whether AutoPlay is on, and which remote-control tools are installed. If you say yes, it also checks which cloud accounts your folders sync to. Nothing is changed.

Business data rarely leaves through a clever attack. It leaves on a USB drive, through a remote-control tool nobody approved, or in a work folder syncing to someone's personal cloud account. This check tells you which of those doors are open on this computer, so you can close them before a departure or a lost drive makes it matter.

What it checks

  • Whether USB storage is restricted, and how many storage devices have been plugged in (counts and kinds, never a serial number)
  • AutoPlay, and whether BitLocker To Go is required before a removable drive can be written
  • Remote-control software installed on this computer
  • Business folders syncing into personal cloud accounts (only when you say yes; the kind of account, never a name)

Who it is for

  • A business whose people handle client files on shared computers
  • An office preparing for an examiner, insurer or client questionnaire
  • Anyone who has lent a USB drive to a colleague

Before it runs: one question you can say no to

  • Also check which cloud accounts your folders sync to? Optional. Reads the KIND of account (personal, or work or school) that OneDrive and Dropbox are signed in to and whether Desktop, Documents or Pictures sync into a personal one. No account name, e-mail address or file name is read.

What it never does

It never changes a setting, installs anything, tries a password or signs in to an account. Where a check reads inside files it reports counts only — never a value, a file name or a path. Nothing is exploited and no credential is guessed. Your own answers are recorded as yours and never upgraded into something the scan observed.
